Hobby Casting Moulds and Metal Kit

Description

This kit contains the French Imperial Guard Infantry on Parade 1805 moulds. These allow you to cast 3 figures - Officer, Infantryman and Drummer. PA80-1. It also includes all the accessories you will need to start you off creating Napoleons army.

These contents are:
  • Casting ladle. This is where you hold the liquid metal when pouring it into the mould.
  • 2 Metal Clamps. These hold the mould and support boards together.
  • 2 Large support boards. These sandwich the rubber mould and spread the pressure of the clamps.
  • 3 ingots of '6 Star' Metal (i.e. approximately 300 grams). Metal alloy is 60% Bismuth and 40% Tin.
  • Small pot of release agent. This coats the surface of the mould to allow air to escape and stop the metal from sticking to the mould.
  • Model Paint Brush.
  • 6 Quality 17ml Paints (Black, Dark Prussian Blue, White, Medium Fleshtone, Dark Vermillion and Gold).
  • Painting and Casting instructions.
  • Large sturdy cardboard storage box. Keep your moulds and accessories organised and safe.
  • Wooden metal stirrer.

'6Star' Metal Safety Data Sheet.

No cast figures are supplied in this kit. They are shown for illustration only.

    Great kit

Have had this for a month now and am very pleased. Was happy to see that the moulds stand up to repeated use. Might suggest adding a 000 brush and a metal silver paint to your order if you don't have these already. Otherwise, a great kit!

    good but not perfect

The kit has everything on board for a first expierence, but some of the items unfotunately have a low quality. So the clamps obviously not strong enough and so we had to replace them. The casts seems to be ok. The given material is not enough for three figures- a shame if you trying to use the kit with your children on a weekend... Service and delivery are very professional. Response from webmaster: Thanks for your comments on the kit however I wish to respond to some of your statements. The clamps provided are our standard clamps we use everyday here at the visitor center, they are designed to not be too strong as this adds too much pressure to the mould and can restrict air flow. The three metal bars are more than sufficient for casting the three figures. A 54mm figure only uses up about half a bar worth of metal. The additional ingates are remelted. If you did not remelt any of the ingates then that is why you had problems with metal quantity.

Vive la France! Fantastic Kit to learn how to cast.

Its size is a little daunting, its SO BIG. But its got great moulds, and casting is so easy, I was amazed. I mean I saw the videos (great btw) but until you sit down to do it you really don't grasp how easy it is. 5 minutes later and I had my first figure, well parts of a figure, as it needs some assembly but I could not believe it. I wish I had done this years ago. I used some glue for the figures although I might try soldering future figures together as glue is fine for display but may not survive my children playing with them (dropping them on the floor). Its great that I can always remelt them too, so if the little ones do damage the figure, I can have a new one ready in 10 minutes (minus gluing). Anyway its a fantastic kit, and the paints are top notch, just don't forget to prime the figures FIRST. I forgot that first time, but a quick look at the videos about casting sorted out that mistake. Only thing I recommend is getting some more metal with the kit, as you will get through the bars included in the kit pretty fast. I could cast about 2 figures per bar. These are large figures after all.
