Lars Edman (owner of Prince August) explains all about the tradition of easter decorations:

In the Nordic countries of Europe, Easter is a big celebration of spring, After the harsh winter of snow and lack of daylight, Easter is coming in the break between winter and spring. Some flowers like snow drops are all over the country followed by daffodils and tulips. This season comes very fast and the ground is exploding in green grass and flower colours.  Hence Easter is celebrated by decorating the home with small tree branches, small figurines of cocks, chickens, bunnies.

Yellow is the favourite colour and can often be found on table decorations like table cloths and napkins. Also yellow feathers are attached to bunches of tree branches as well as decorated with small figurines. Just cut of half a dozen short fresh tree branches appr. 60cm long. Arrange and stick them in a vase with water. After a few day you will see the bud turning in to fresh leaves. You then hang small figures in the branches and stick some yellow feathers at the top of the branches. It is a true celebration of spring.

Another common pastime is painting the shell of hard boiled eggs. These are used for decoration at Easter Eve’s dinner and quit often consumed during the dinner.

Our Easter figures has both a hole for hanging and a foot plate for standing. You can nip off one or the other depending on your usage.  They are easy to cast and paint.  Use our Vallejo acrylic paint and brushes.
