Description

Pikemen were a development of spearmen but the pike was designed to keep from getting stuck in an impaled enemy. Used en-mass a formation of pikemen were formidable anti-cavalry units.

This is a rubber mould that can be reused hundreds of times. The figures can be painted in the uniforms of 1700-1760 for England, France, Sweden, Prussia and Russia.

The master figures were initially carved out of wood and still retain some features of a wood carving. Many of these were re-made when we moved over to rubber moulds which could produce more rounded figures (Karoliners).

These early flats are quite hard to cast and require more of the detail to be 'painted in' than our more modern series.

This product is not suitable for children under the age of 14.

    Not quite satisfied

I was first into Prince August, these by Holger Ericsson, in the early 70s and was surprised and happy, that the molds still exists. I bought also the drummer and the kneeling grenadier. Til now, after 5 tries, the results were not in the way I used to know in my youth. The moulds have changed a bit from style, but the former ones to me are more detailed in scape, bags, details of the uniform are at the older ones better. I get the drummer, old Form, too, there you can clearly see the difference. I am using the Prince August and some moldings were not complete. The new moldings have seize of the former bigger ones (why) and don't have the wooden plates for protection. PRINCE AUGUST RESPONDS: The support boards are purchased separately. Mould sizes alter depending on standard use. The older moulds can be smaller than the newer versions. That should not affect use. If you have an issue with a casting, please contact us by email and we can support you.
