Model Metal (54% Lead / 11% Tin / 35% Bismuth) is our best casting metal. It contains bismuth which reduces the melting temperature and shrinkage. While most alloys shrink while solidifying, Model metal does not. Can be used in rubber, plaster and metal moulds.
Ingot length 122 mm, Width 25mm, weight 125gr
Melts at 138°C (280°F).
Cast at 300-370°C (572F-700F).
Melts on electric cooker at maximum. For very fine detailed casting we recommend our Solder Melting Pot which can bring up temperature up higher.

The best material for casting
I consider model metal the best option for casting. It flows easy when melted with good results.
Excellent metal for casting small pieces. Melts at low temperature and easy to work with. Delivery prompt and effcient.
the metal works very well, but it is a pitty there is not available a lead free material on a reasonable price, if you plan to use these model soldiers for kids this is a problem. Response: Our 5 Star Metal is pewter and lead free. Naturally if you choose a more expensive metal it will cost more. Regards, Webmaster.
I always use the Model Metal, I find it's the best for filling in the nooks and crannies and usually first time. Wouldn't even bother with anything alse.
I always buy Prince August Model Metal. Gives a great flow from low temperatures and fills the mold very well. Only fault in using it is me.
This metal is really excellent for molding figurines. The rendering of detail is perfect.
