Alfie Hall 'Prince August cast soldiers used with Model Railways'.
I visited the factory while we were visiting a couple of weeks ago and talked to the ladies about how I use the figures on my “G” Scale model railway. The scale for these model trains does vary from 1/32 to around 1:20.3 so the normal Prince August figures can be used in different settings using perspective to make the sizes look about right.
I’ve attached a few photos to show you what I mean with along with a real shot from our holiday in Jasper Canada that shows a yellow luggage cart they use there. I’ve made a few of your models now and have included so of the ones I have adapted to fit on the railway which is outside in my garden all year round.
- PA420 – Knight on Foot looks great painted bronze as a model of a sculpture.
- 523-English 6 pounder makes a great model of a small garden canon which I’ve seen outside houses in North America which is where my railway is based.
- 800-basic soldier painted black and without a weapon makes a good general railway worker (I’ve included photos of some of the basic soldier as well to show the source moulds).
- French 6 pounder canon 54mm gives great wagon wheels for a host of uses. The unpainted one next to my model Station gives an idea.
- The charge box from the canon easily trims or paints to look like a “trunk”.
- Using a base from any of the cavalry moulds makes the base for a luggage trailer using 4 wheels from mould 523 and using the axle from the Gribouval Canon.
