Description

Cuchulainn, The Hound of Ulster, 90mm scale miniature.

There was a time in Irelands history when chivalry and chieftainry ruled the land. When the country was occupied by bands of warriors who spoke only their native tongue and who cherished their heritage and civilisation. This was the time of Conor McNessa and the High Kings of Ireland, of the Gamanraide and the Red Branch Knights of the Emania. It was the time of Cuchullain.

CUCHULAINN (Born Setanta) gained his name which means "Hound of Culain" after he killed a fierce wolfhound guarding the fort of Culain using his skill as a hurler while still a young boy. He offered to take the dogs place as protector to the King. His most famous deeds were perhaps the time he single handedly held back the forces of Connaught until his Ulster kinsmen had time to rally to fight them and the time he fought his friend Ferdiad, champion and chief of the Connaught Knights of the Sword. So feared was he that even after dying in battle he struck terror into all enemies who approached his body, which his kinsmen had propped up against a boulder and armed.

The figures are painted by experienced Irish artists and were designed by internationally famous miniature designer Chris Tubb.
