6 Star metal Tin/Bismuth (40%/60%) alloy is lead free. However it is more rigid than Model Metal and not suitable for bending small parts like poles for pikemen.
Numbers of figures per bar of metal:
25-28mm scale = 10 single unmounted figures.
40mm scale = 5 single unmounted figures.
54mm scale = 3 single unmounted figures.
Weight per bar: 100gr.
Lead Free – Safe for Children to play with figures.
Low Melting Point – 150c.
Easy to melt on a domestic cooker.
Cast Figures can brake if bent.
Gives good detailed castings.
Can be re-melted over and over.
Melts at 150° C (302° F). Cast at 300-320°C.
Ingot length 122 mm. Width 25mm, weight 100gr approx. (may vary by a few grams). The volume of the bar is the same as our other alloys. As the alloy is lighter, you get more figures per kilo than Model or Standard Metal.

very happy to cast with lead free metal
basically only good for 'block' items. chess set pieces with thin legs break easily. extended rifles break easily. anything with thin appendages break easily. hanger rings on christmas ornaments break relatively easily. for chess sets with thin leg items or extended appendages like the eagles on top of flags on drums (the 'castles' on some sets) i use the 5 star metal or the model medal. the model metal is the best stuff for casting but the lead is a problem. even being somewhat careful my lead was 16. after a year and restarted casting with the leaded stuff and trying to be very careful my lead level was still a 6. i wish there was a metal that was not leaded that worked just as well as the leaded
