While Hollywood glamourises the frontier attitude of American's 'Wild West', reality was a lot harsher. The land could be unforgiving and not everyone were ranchers or farmers and a trade in furs was a common enough way of living off the land. These trappers would hunt animals and prepare hides for sale and would sometimes come into conflict with native americans who see them as poachers or worse.
Holger Eriksson, a famous mid 20th Century sculptor, hand carved in exacting detail in wood this American Trapper figure and then it was converted into a black rubber mould. Each mould can cast hundreds of figures, provided you are using low temperature metal. This figure is surprisingly easy to cast and requires no assembly so it is a good choice for younger children.
Please consider also buying our Kit 2000 accessory pack if you have not done so already and stock up with some ingots of metal so you can cast more than a handful of figures. Each ingot used can cast up to five unmounted 40mm scale Native Americans.
