Despite their age - still my favourite PA figures!
This is by far my most favourite range in the Prince August catalogue. True-to-life postures, wonderfully detailed uniforms and faces - to me these figures are the sculptor's masterpieces! Generally the figures are quite easy to cast. The charging musketeer (409) was a little bit tricky, because the neckstock did not come out completely. After venting the mould by drilling two 1mm holes at the neckstock in both halves of the mould the figure did cast perfectly. Unlike the newer PA ranges (the 54mm Napoleonic kits and the 40mm Seven Years War moulds), these older moulds have no space for PTFE rods to create a hole in the body for the head. To attach the head to the body, you have to drill a hole into the figure or - as an alternative - you can file the peg of the head very short so that it fits into the neckstock. The latter procedure is more time-consuming, but the safer method.
