American Civil War 1861 - 1865 The Civil War was the culmination of four decades of intense sectional conflict and reflected deep seated differences between the North and the South. Underscoring sectional differences, the labor force in the South included nearly four million enslaved blacks. Although the slaveholding planter class formed a small minority of the population, it dominated Southern politics and society. Slaves were the largest single investment in the South, and the fear of slave unrest ensured the loyalty of non-slaveholders. The Missouri Compromise of 1820 temporarily settled the issue by establishing a line separating free and slaves territory. Conflict resumed, when the United States boundaries were extended westward to the Pacific. In 1850 California was admitted as a free state and Utah and New Mexico were added as two new territories. When the war ended 620,000 had been killed, and many more wounded. The war settled the question of the permanence of the Union. The war expanded the authority of the federal government. The U.S. Congress enacted much of the legislation to which the South had objected.

    union soldier pawn

I have only began to cast this set, the king queen bishop and castle all cast with great deail. Howerver the pawn after 3 attempts at casting has very little facial detail. In fact the figure looks like it is wearing a covid mask. The knight detail is also poor at the stirrup and boot positions on both sides. I have not had this problem with knights of other sets I have. Response from Prince August. Please contact us if you are struggling with a casting and we can advise how to resolve any issue. If a mould itself is a problem we can replace it.

    My 7th set

I got this set to do as a Christmas present for an old friend of koine that loves all things American military. For the most part it looks a fairly easy set to paint except for the flags on the Castles. I am noir sure yet how I will do that but I am looking at possibly printing some decals as painting the straight lines and the stars looks a mighty tough job by hand. As usual though theory are great moulds.
