HISTORY: Austria-Hungary was exceptional among the great powers in 1900 in that it was a multi- ethnic polity in an age of nationalism. Since its defeat by Prussia in 1866 its focus had moved from Germany, its traditional sphere of interest, to focus on Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Within its borders it embraced Germans, Magyars, Serbs, Slovenes and many other peoples, amongst whom were Catholics, Orthodox Christians and Muslims. Its army also reflected this diversity with distinct regiments raised from its subject peoples but officered by Germans, who frequently could not speak the same language as the men under their command, leading to a chaos and confusion which would spell disaster for the empire during the Great War. The common army comprised 102 regiments. Unlike most of its rivals, the Austro-Hungarian army did not feature Guards regiments. Its elite troops were the instead the so-called Kaiserjager units.
Regiments in the Common army were distinguished by a combination of facing colours and button metal colours.

These moulds are suitable for casting in all alloys, if you use the Prince August Solder Pot to aid you. You can also find the Digital Thermometer very useful for making sure you have the metal at the right temperature.

There are 2.5mm PTFE rods (PA2077) included to allow you to make the neck hole to attach the head later. Just place the small rods in the body cavity where the head would be after you have applied the talcum powder and before assembling the mould. Take it out after casting and keep safe for reuse. If you loose the PTFE rod, more are available online.

Assembly of the casted figures is required so you may wish to acquire some superglue suitable for metal. Scratch the areas a little in a crosshatch pattern before attaching to give more grip for the glue.

Colours for painting these uniforms are recommended as follows:

Uniform: Black, Gold, Brass, Blue/Grey Mix, Dark Blue, Red, Green and Silver.

Painting instructions PDF for PA857 to PA860.

This product is not suitable for children under the age of 14.
