Description

The Napoleonic Wars (1803-15) were a series of wars declared against Napoleon's French Empire by opposing coalitions. As a continuation of the wars sparked by the French Revolution of 1789, they revolutionised European armies and played out on an unprecedented scale, mainly owing to the application of modern mass conscription. French power rose quickly as Napoleon's armies conquered much of Europe but collapsed rapidly after France's disastrous invasion of Russia in 1812. Napoleon's empire ultimately suffered complete military defeat resulting in the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy in France.

This product has a moulds that can cast 25mm scale metal figures.

Figures can be mounted on PA547c and PA547b. This is a black vulcanised rubber two part gravity cast mould that can take temperatures up to 400 degrees Celsius.

This product is not suitable for children under the age of 14.

    PA547A French Napoleonic Polish Lancers

    Well, after a number of false starts, I finally had success with these moulds on the weekend. I had re-visited the location of the vents and then tried heating the metal more than what I have been able to in the past, using the last of my stash of model metal. On a warm autumn day, I was able to get successful casts until I was out of the model metal. Size wise, these troopers are bigger than the older single figure PA516 French Lancers of the Guard (which I also used and have always had success with). I will try to mix the two casts to make up both the Dutch Red and Polish Lancers. To be added into the 'to be painted pile', as I finish off some other projects.

    I used this mold for the first time, right at the end of a warm spring day, using Model Metal. I believe the temperature was dropping, as I had issues with the metal filling this mold and the relevant horse molds, yet had been successful earlier in the day with different molds. I will try again when I am free and the day is warmer. I will use this mold for both the Polish Lancers and the Dutch Lancers, Response from Prince August. I appreciate your comment. If your metal temperature drops then the flow of metal will be affected and cool prematurely resulting in small imperfections like sword tips not filling. This is not a fault in the mould, but in the casting technique you are using.
