Starter kit + moulds, metal and readymades
Bought a load of roman stuff for my son for his birthday as he's really into history. A great success - high quality materials and took me back to the model making I did as a kid. Brilliant fun.
This kit is an excellent choice for a gift for someone who has interests that don't match the pre-set kits available.
The idea here is very simple. This kit starts off with some basic equipment in a good sturdy cardboard box. You can then add other items to your order to be included in the box (size permitting) or if the extra items cannot fit, are shipped alongside the box. The most common things to add are some metal ingots, some paints and brushes and, of course, some rubber moulds.
Above is what you get for the basic price.
Adding other items will expand your order and affect postage costs.
Prince August has hundreds of moulds and combinations are almost infinite, so sometimes the ideal kit for YOU is one you make yourself. Choose our Custom Kit and add whatever extra you want that suite YOU.
It does make the kit personalised to your focus in casting, whether you want to mix and match a chess set, or have two different ranges of moulds, the choice is now YOURS. Add paints, brushes or maybe even an electric metal melter (due to size of metal melter, it cannot be put into the custom kit box but will be posted with it in a larger box that contains both if applicable).

When we visited the factory we used the moulds with 2 pieces of hardboard either side & 4 clamps to ensure the mould does not leak. Unfortunately the starter pack comes without the hardboard pieces & with only 2 clamps - no matter how I manipulated the moulds I could not prevent the liquid metal leak out leaving a very disappointed 6 year old. I would suggest that the pack is not suitable for its purpose as is..........especially as a starter pack - it's hard to get started if you can't keep the metal in the mould! Response by Webmaster. The custom starter kit clearly states what is in it, it is the most basic kit available, and because we sell different sized moulds, the support boards need to match. We clearly state that you need to select a support board pack in additional to the custom kit. The kit is designed to allow people to fill it with whatever tools, metal and moulds you personally desire. As you saw when you visited us, the support boards are vital to cast properly. To attempt to cast without them is not the fault of the mould, you need support boards. We have support board packs available on our website.

very handy for presents, got a medieval knight mould and some model metal and threw in the medium paint pack and it looked great. No trying to compromise with a kit you 'kinda' like. NOTE: you do need a metal file and a wire snips and they are not available on PA's site (yet??). But my local hardware store had the snips and a metal nail file is perfect for the task so no big deal.
